"High Key Processing" - A Start to Finish Video

Run Time: 1 hr 57 min

This tutorial video contains 4 chapters, where I first cover the theory behind High Key Processing, and then show the full workflow and techniques I used in order to process these 3 images from start to finish. I use high key processing in some of my images in order to give them a surreal, pure, and bright feeling. The main techniques covered are, but not limited to: RAW Processing, Color Management, Adding Midtone Contrast, Creating Micro Contrast, Using Luminosity Masks, Raising Exposure While Preserving Highlights, Enhancing Atmosphere, and Cloning Out Distractions. Most importantly, you will learn what kind of lighting, composition, and subject matter lend themselves best to the unique look of high key processing, so that you know when to apply it to your own images. This video is intended for photographers that have already seen some of my other videos, where I spend more time explaining basic techniques; here, I mainly spend time explaining the techniques that are not shown in my other videos.

PSD files are included to follow along with. You do not need to purchase any external plug-ins, apps, or programs in order to achieve the results shown in this video. You will only need Camera RAW/Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

Eric does a great job of working through the thought process and start to finish processing in respect to high key images. It is a specific tutorial that does require existing knowledge of processing techniques, Eric will explain why he is doing something but does not go into detail of how. This keeps the tutorial on point and and you get a better insight into the style of work. Cheers Eric for sharing the knowledge.

Eric nails this tutorial and something I’ve never really tried or thought about in my own photography is when and how to use high key processing. Not only does Eric teach how do to it but more importantly is when to use it.

I really liked this tutorial! I think the hardest part when thinking of high key images is to learn when it's a good idea to go high key. What I like the most is that Eric addressed that through the tutorial presenting a series of different images and explaining why the images work with high key processing. Great Stuff!
