One of the best parts about camping is waking up early to see the first light begin to illuminate the landscape around me. I had backpacked into the Wasatch Mountains up to a high, remote, hidden lake to get this clear view of Mt Timpanogos.
In the morning, I climbed up to this spot in the dark where there was a small ledge filled with tiny white flowers to wait for the sunrise. After an hour or so of waiting in silence for the world to wake up, soft pink light began to fill the high, thin clouds all across the sky. The moment was serene and mesmerizing, and for a brief moment I completely forgot that I was trying to create a photograph. I turned my camera on and adjusted my settings. Once the light was just right, I took a few moments to capture the scene you see here, then I turned the camera off again and enjoyed the rest of the show for myself.
